Sonja Jane McGregor

May 1, 1940 - February 6, 2022

McGregor, Sonja Jane, 81, Mineral Point, passed away February 6, 2022. Born May 1, 1940, to the late Paul and Beatrice (Thomas) Abram. Sonja was married to the love of her life, Robert for 61 years. If anyone ever fit the description “Soul Mates”, it was Sonja and Bob. Their love was projected through every touch, a look, a smile. They complimented each other perfectly in the way they walked, how they talked, how she would yell “Bob”. They were built for each other, for this life, the next, and beyond. If Sonja had one last wish it would be for all her family to find and have love as pure and spectacular as what she had with Bob. Sonja was the mother to five beautiful children, Tamara Harris (Dennis); Cecelia Mickus (Anthony); Kimberly Gearity (David); Todd McGregor (Mary (Taylor)); and Heather Jones (Douglas); She went on to be adored by her 12 grandchildren, Jamel Gorzelsky (Brian); Evan Harris (Jesse Johnson); Anthony Mickus (Alayna Hershberger); Amanda Montaina (Andrew); Samantha Humbert (James); Craig Harris (Jill DelSignore); Cody Mickus (Taylor Palmer); Kyle Gearity (Colton Riggs); Cayce Jones (Bree Gindlesperger); Emily Jones; Todd McGregor Jr.; and Alexander McGregor; and 13 great grandchildren, Toby, Chance, Marces, and Piper Gorzelsky; Gavin Guillarmod; Izaak Harris; Everly Montaina; Thea and Peyton Harris; Kalib and Summer Humbert; and Kaiden and Oliver Jones). Also survived by brother, Paul Abram, and her baby, a beagle, Rozee. To Sonja, a home wasn’t complete without a dog, or 10, but who’s counting. Sonja’s passion for animals was a lifelong commitment. She helped countless cats, dogs, and once a skunk, whether it was nursing them back to health or giving them a home. There’s a reason every grandchild’s nickname for her has “kitty” or “crazy” in the name. Sonja enjoyed fishing, camping, crocheting, and loved making Christmas magical. She loved feeding you. No sooner you would sit down she would be sliding a glass platter of meats and cheese in front of you saying, “chips are in the cabinet, pop is in the fridge.” She cherished meals shared with her family. The family would like to thank Windber Hospice for making Sonja’s last weeks comfortable. Family will receive friends Friday February 11th from 2 p.m. until the time of service at 4 p.m. at Simple Alternatives, Inc., 717 Main St., Windber. Pastor Tom Moore, officiating. Arrangements in care of Simple Alternatives, Inc. Affordable Cremation & Sensible Funeral Care. Condolences may be made at SimpleAlternativeCares.com
