Dietz, Ronald R., 83, Windber, passed away April 28, 2018 at Windber Woods. Born September 27, 1934, son of the late Curtis and Anna (Dena) Dietz and the last surviving member of the immediate family. Preceded in death by siblings, Margaret Janovic, Delores Keifline (Paul), Curtis, Gerald (Lois Moore), and Richard “Harry” (Mary Clark); grandson, Corey Dietz; great grandson, Tallin; father-in-law, Pete Gerula; sister-in-law, Nancy Gerula; brother-in-law, Anthony “Tony” Fritz; and numerous feline and canine companions, most recently Angel, a rescued American Eskimo. Survived by wife, Judy Gerula; children, Ron, Jeff, Lanny (Jennifer), Rebecca (Charles Wilson), Sherry (Jonathan Osman), and Sandra (Ed Tokarsik); grandchildren, John and Nicole Billick, Brittany Dietz, Michael Tokarcik, Dallas Jackson, and Luke Dietz; great grandchildren, Vincent Rose, and Isabell; mother-in-law, Bertha Gerula; sisters-in-law, Carol Fritz, Betty Gerula, Shirley McCreary (Robert Stinebiser); brother-in-law, Peter Gerula (Maria Martella); nieces and nephews, Glenda Martell, Toni Lynn (Josh) Osborne, Cari (Shawn) Blough, Cole and Lauren Gerula, and Alora Hubbard; and special friends, Melinda (Ripple) Clay, Cindy (Gerula) and Gerald Lang; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and Gabe, his feline companion. Ron worked at Iron City Sash and Door and Thiele Body Company for many years. He was an original Arcadia Guild member, former member of the Argument Club, the Windber Moose, and Windber Eagles. He helped with the Dog Run from its formation, was also a member of the Windber World War II and Centennial Committees. Ron was a faithful member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where he served on the Building Committee and enjoyed helping with funeral dinners. Visitation will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 514 Shady Lane, Windber, where a memorial service will follow, Rev. Ruth Kocha Jensen officiating. Private burial at the family’s convenience. The family would like to thank Pastor Jensen and the staff at Windber Woods and Windber Hospice for their kindness and support. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to wife, Judy through the funeral home to help with final expenses.
