Larry A. Black

August 22, 1945 - November 22, 2020

On Sunday, November 22, 2020, loving husband, father, and grandfather, Larry A. Black was called home at the age of 75. He was born August 22, 1945 in Southfork to parents, George and Emma, who preceded him in death, along with siblings, Marie, Doris, Vivian, Glenn, and Don. Survived by his best friend and wife of 55 years, Ruth (May); children, Cindy, Vizzini (Rob), Stacy Black, Kristine Donato (Tony), and Sharon Nickoles (Todd); grandchildren, Amanda Blough, Brad Mock, Ryan Black, Nicole Weaver (Sam), Nathon Hofecker, Corey Hofecker, and Alyssa Turcato (Paul); 6 great grandchildren plus 2 on the way, who he was anxiously waiting for; siblings, Leroy Black (Donna), Clair Black (D.), Susanne Poborsky (Melvin), Dennis Black (Candy), and Sannie Gamble (Jay); and sister-in-law, Sarah Black. Larry enjoyed singing, playing guitar, and was in many bands throughout the years. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and boating, whether on a lake or ocean. His greatest joy was spending time with his family or catching up with them on the phone. He met his wife 57 years ago and they were truly best friends. You rarely saw one without the other. We will miss his stories, his singing, his witty sense of humor, and his laughter. He is loved and we know he will be watching over us, guiding us, and yes, poking fun at us until we meet again. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and Conemaugh ICU for the care and compassion shown to him and our family. A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Larry’s memory to his favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements in care of Simple Alternatives, Inc., 717 Main St., Windber, PA 15963. Condolences may be made at simplealternatives.com
