Obituary

Zane, Joanne (Miller), married for 50 years to the late George Reddinger Zane, whom she met on the school bus when they attended Richland High School, entered eternal life on January 15, 2017. Daughter of the late Chauncy Miller and Mary Veil Miller. Preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Miller Vizi. Beloved mother of Cynthia (Stephen Mazurak), Susan Greishaw (Ben), David (Rachel), and Becky (Barry McManus). Adored Grandmother/Mema of Srikant Rao (Amy Harrison), Jaidave Rao (Cindy Conn), Ravi Rao (Amber), Carrie Greishaw (Doc Sanjurjo), Neil Greishaw (Melissa Hamblet), Dr. Elizabeth Zane Cretara (Dr. Tony), Nathan Zane (Kim), and Michael Smith. Cherished great-grandmother of Kiran Rao, Deven Rao, Sara Anjali Rao, and Alana Greishaw. A descendent of Moses B. Miller, she was a great-granddaughter of the founders of the Weaver Mennonite Church, now known as Crossroads Community Church. Known to all as an oral encyclopedia of family histories of the Johnstown/Richland Township residents; particularly those with Mennonite affiliations. Joanne set an amazing example for her family and friends of Christ-like service to others as exemplified by her passionate commitment to World’s Attic, the Mennonite thrift store (Somerset), where she volunteered on Thursdays and previously served on the Board. With her husband, George, she was a member of the Classic Clown Club where she was known as “Ladybug”. Joanne was a devoted lifelong Pittsburgh Pirates and Steeler’s fan, ensuring that all her children and grandchildren would become sports addicts! She treasured her friendships with the members of the Red Hat Ladies and Society of Farm Women of Pennsylvania and looked forward to their monthly meetings. Joanne was a member of Eastern Star, served as a Republican Committee Woman, and lunched regularly at the East Hill Senior Center. For many years, on Wednesday’s, Joanne was a member of the quilting circle at Weaver/Crossroads and in recent years at the Kaufman Mennonite Church. She was supported in her end of life care by Rhonda Blough, Janie Thomas, and Conemaugh Hospice, specifically Carolyn Hawkins R.N., Sue Hunsinger, and Amy Levander, MSW.
