Obituary

Barnes, Robert LaRelle “Spud”, 69, passed away October 2, 2026. Born March 18, 1957, to the Robert and Shirley (Eash) Barnes. He was preceded in death by his father Robert; sister, Buffy; brother, Ian.
He was survived by his wife Donna Watkins; mother, Shirley Barnes; sisters, Jackie, Tyra and DeAnna (Shawn) Collins; brothers, Shawn (Heidi), Eric, Dustin and Nicholas (Stacy); plus, numerous nieces and nephews and his dogs, Otis and Midnight (Poncho) and cats, Abagail, Sissy, Scooter and Booger.
Robert was known as Bob to Donna and a few good friends. Bob was married to Donna for 29 years. The two of them did so much together such as camping, fishing, gardening and gathering firewood for the winter. They enjoyed Sunday drives and taking trips until recent years when Bob’s health was declining. He enjoyed hunting deer and making deerskin coats. Bob’s mother was always there for him, and he loved her very much. Brother Shawn and Bob had a special connection that is going to be missed. DeAnna would stop by on her way from Ohio and Bob loved her very much. Nick was everything to Bob and he loved him. Bob really loved his brothers and sisters very much and is going to be missed. He also was a father figure and role model for Donna’s children and grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bob worked in construction and carpenters’ union. He worked on high-rises downtown Washington D.C. and Virginia. He really enjoyed working on anything wood. Everyone who knew Bob liked him and he was always there for them. Bob was Donna’s world and she is going to miss him with all the breaths she takes. A memorial service will be held in November at the Olgetown Sportsmen Club. Everyone is welcome to come and pay tribute Bob’s “Spuds” life.
