Obituary

Norma Ann (Wiesheier) Corl passed away at home surrounded by family on October 7.  Preceded in death by parents, George and Margaret (Veil) Wiesheier; brother, John; husband of 55 years, Ronald; daughter, Janice; beloved sisters-in-law, Gail (Corl) Roth and Jean (Corl) Ripple; cherished niece, Susan (Ripple) Johans; and best friend, Bea Hollern.  Survived by son, Ronald (Roben) Corl; daughter, Susan (Michael) Knapp; grandchildren, Shaun (Jessi) King, Michael (Allison) Knapp, Simon Knapp, Adam (Elizabeth) Knapp, and Abigail (Kaigan) Stroop.  She was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Noah (Faith) King, Vaughn King, Seth King, Chiara Knapp and Lillian Knapp.

Born and raised on the family farm in Scalp Level, Norma graduated from Windber High School in 1951.  After working at the Eureka store, she moved to Pittsburgh.  While working in the accounting department of the American Bridge Corporation for nearly 10 years, she enjoyed rooming with her dear friends, Betsy Liston, Dee Bumbernick, and Shirley Reho.  On a weekend trip home, she met her future husband, Ron.  Seven months later they were married, and they made their home in Windber.  In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Norma was active in the Rotary Anns and the Windber Hospital Auxiliary.  She also loved golfing, tennis, skiing, and playing pinochle with friends and family.  Abundant travels took her to over 50 countries.  Above all, she was the epitome of kindness and grace.  She placed the wishes and well-being of others above her own.  She was our rock, and she quietly set a standard that will guide our lives forever.  A reception and service will be held at Simple Alternatives Funeral Home 717 Main Street Windber on Friday, October 16, 2026, from 12:00 until the time of service at 1:30.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Ave, Windber, PA 15963, or the Arcadia Theater, 1418 Graham Ave, Windber, PA 15963.
