Obituary

Linda Rose Zindash, 84, Windber, PA, was a beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She passed peacefully surrounded by her husband and children on April 1, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, John C. and Rosie A. (Pierre) Gates; sister, Annamarie Gates; daughter, Gina Cordutsky; and grandson, Cameron Ursino. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Nick Zindash; children, Nick Zindash (Kimberly), Lisa Ursino (Gary), Marisa Smith (Greg), Christopher Zindash (Marina), Lynda (Jeffrey), and David (Jennifer); fourteen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Linda was a 1958 Windber High School graduate and married her high school sweetheart, Nick. She was a cheerleader and the Maple Princess during her high school years. Linda was known as the “lunch lady” at the Windber Elementary School, where she worked for more than 20 years. She also worked at Giant Eagle for many years. She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist church choir. Linda loved hosting her large family for holiday dinners and being with her children. She also enjoyed water aerobics. She loved her extended Pierre family and cherished the memories she made with them throughout her 84 years. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She had the kindest heart and overcame many struggles in her life. She had the strongest faith in God and had a close relationship with Jesus throughout her entire life. She has now gone home! A special thank you to Harmony House Manor and all the wonderful caregivers, staff, and friends she made there. A gathering will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, from 2:00pm until the time of service at 5:30pm at Simple Alternatives, 717 Main Street, Windber, PA 15963, with Pastor Luke Breeze officiating.
