Obituary

Duane George Manges, 85, of Windber, was called home on October 24, 2026. Born on June 20, 1941, in Windber, to the late Geroge and Florence (Lehman) Manges. Preceded in death by sister-in-law, Nancy Manges. Survived by loving caregiver and wife of 30 years, Ann Marie (Adamchik) Manges; brother, Denny Manges; brothers-in-law, Ed Adamchik (JoAnn) and Andy Adamchik; children, Donald Koshute (Meleia) and Amy Stone (Jerry); grandchildren, Hayley Jones (Jackson), Melody Koshute, Andrew Stone, and Logan Pletcher; great grandchildren, Presley, Ellie, Mac, Cal Jones; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Jerry Berkey.

Duane graduated from Windber Area High School in 1959 and The Western Pennsylvania Institute of Technology in 1964. He went on to work for Helyn Patterson, Long Air Docks, and was self employed with his brother, Manges and Manges. Duane was a founding member of the Paint Creek Pickers and a member of various social clubs in Windber. Duane loved his wife, children, and great grandchildren deeply. He was incredibly proud of them and often spoke about them with immense joy. Duane was a man who found joy in the simple things in life and had a special love for Harley Davidsons and Bluegrass music. He rode a Harley for over 60 years and played Bluegrass on his beloved Martin Guitar. He always made life more memorable.
