Obituary

Miller, Alvin Clarence, 78, Sidman, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 1, 2023. Born September 4, 1944, to the late Ollie J. Sr. and Mabel M. (Davis) Miller. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Ella R. (Devine), and brother, Ollie J. Jr. and wife Delores (Wachs). Survived by son, Clarence H. and wife Denise (Cunningham), South Fork; daughter, Nora R. and husband Lee T. Sheffield, Johnstown; grandsons, Hunter (girlfriend, Amberly), Dominic, Alexander, and Jarret; brother, Clifford and wife Nancy (Hull), Johnstown; sisters, Marjorie, Sidman; Debbie, husband Robert Talley, Cleveland, Tennessee; and numerous nephews and nieces. Alvin proudly served in the United States Marine Corps as a Sergeant and was a member of A battalion where he served in 2 Laam Bn Chu Lia Vietnam from 1965-1966. Alvin was also a member of the Local 423 Carpenters Union for over 40 years. He was a long-time member of the Life Church, formerly Windber Church of God in Windber, PA, where he was an avid giver of his time. Alvin was a member of multiple committees and the groundskeeper for the pavilion. He supported numerous religious groups and charities. It would be impossible to list the names of all the lives he’s touched over the years.  Family will receive friends, Friday, July 7th from 6-8 P.M., at Simple Alternatives Inc., 717 Main St., Windber, PA 15963., As well as on Saturday, July 8th from 9 A.M. until time of service at 11 A.M., at Life Church, 107 Bartley Pl., Windber, PA 15963, with a funeral service following. Pastor Richard Smith, officiating. Interment to follow at Dunmyer Cemetery, Salix, PA. Military rights by VFW Post 155.
