Obituary

Luciano “Lou” Taranto, 71, of Ferndale, passed away Friday, April 21, 2023. Born December 14, 1951, in Vittoria, Sicily; he was a son of the late Salvatore and Francesca Taranto. Survived by his wife, Karen (Ohs) Taranto; children, Jessica Cunningham, and husband, John of Johnstown, Jordan Taranto of Central City; two grandchildren, Nash and Tripp Cunningham; sister-in-law, Vivian Ohs, of Johnstown; special niece and nephew, Maria and Jimmie. Mr. Taranto and his wife owned and operated Tower of Pizza on Franklin Street for 35 years. He was a member of the Greater Johnstown Ski Club, an avid gardener and a ballroom dance enthusiast. Mr. Taranto served in the Italian military. Friends and family will be received on Wednesday April 26,2023 from 5p.m. until the time of service at 7 p.m. at Simple Alternatives Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., 717 Main St., Windber, PA 15963.
