Betz, Thomas J., 70, Windber, died April 15, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center. Born March 16, 1947, Windber, son of the late James M. and Stella E. (Hoover) Betz. Preceded in death by sister, Betty Piper; brothers-in-law, William Bruening and Gary Piper. Survived by wife of 50 years, Phyllis J. (Holsapple); son, Brent A. Betz and wife, Phyllis A.; daughter, Amy Patterson and husband, Timothy; grandchildren, Dustin R. Leverknight; Brandi R. Leverknight; and Danielle A. Betz; sisters, Donna Bruening; Mary Jane Gross and husband, Willy; and brother, Martin Betz. Tom was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, spending time at his cottage, and enjoyed mowing. Tom was an honorary member of the Windber Fire Dept. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1:30 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 514 Shady Ln, Windber, Pastor Ruth Kocha Jensen, officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pastor’s Discretionary Fund at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
